Local Connection welcomes well-shaped pitches about local civic life: the decisions, services, records and neighbourhood connections that help readers understand how a place works.

What we are looking for

Propose an evergreen explanation, comparison, background piece or reader-focused way into a civic topic. Strong ideas make one clear point, define their terms and help a general reader see how separate parts connect. We welcome fresh angles, not rewrites of familiar material or pieces that depend on unsupported claims.

A useful pitch

Send a short summary of the proposed article, its central idea, why it suits Local Connection and the main material you would use to check its claims. Mention any close connection or interest relevant to the subject. Do not send a complete article unless we have requested one.

How to propose it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before developing a commissioned piece.
